UX audit of Datel and ERMS file services: improving usability and efficiency for users and internal processes.
We have conducted two UX usability audits for Správa železnic (Railway Administration Company). The first one was for the public application Datel, which is used to monitor the position of trains on the track, display information about stations, construction activities, or even emergencies.
We focused primarily on making Datel offering a faster, clearer and more user-friendly experience for the wider public. Using expert heuristic analysis and more than 10 user interviews, we identified a total of 35 findings that were either critical or insufficient. We then suggested changes to improve the user experience.
Next in the line was the ERMS document management service, where we conducted a comprehensive UX audit that included a thorough analysis of the user interface and internal processes. The audit included in-depth user interviews with key employees who openly shared their experiences, needs and challenges in working with the system on a daily basis. Through these interviews, we gained valuable insights that were not apparent from simple data analysis or design.
Based on the information we gathered, we identified the main obstacles that slow down work and reduce employee efficiency. We proposed specific solutions aimed at improving usability, simplifying controls, and optimizing workflows. The goal was not only to improve user experience, but also to minimize the risk of errors and data loss.
