Four interns and one alarm, aka summer internship at UX Fans
Four students from the Liberec Technical University (IT major) joined the ranks of UX Fans and embarked on real projects with us. What did they like about us, what did they enjoy – and what would they change if they took charge of the company for a day?
We see summer internships as an opportunity to share experiences and gain energy from the new generation of developers. Students have the opportunity to work on real projects, teamwork, and technologies that we use every day. And sometimes they add unexpected moments that bring a lot of humor to the company.
Meet our summer interns
Martin Holý, Jakub Havlas, Pavel Horáček, and Jakub Šajer joined our team to find out what developers' work looks like in practice. Over the course of a few weeks, they got to know the tools we use every day – from Postman to Git to YouTrack. Martin even fell in love with YouTrack ("because it's pretty"), Jakub Š. enjoyed Postman the most, and Jakub H. appreciated working with WSL and Git. And as if that weren't enough, Martin also mastered a new discipline: instant Chinese cuisine in the office kitchen.

Unexpected moments from the internship
Every internship has its highlights – and ours was no different.
- Martin set off the company alarm in the morning. The unplanned siren concert woke up the whole company better than espresso.
- The guys also experienced a YouTrack outage. But the team handled the short-term crisis like true Jedi – with calm, strength, and their own humor.

Superpowers and future plans
When we asked them what superpower they would like to have at work, the answers were:
- not having to sleep (from two of them),
- knowing how to rebase (Pavel),
- and eslint (Jakub Š. – that guy knows what he wants).
They all plan to stay at programming, although everyone is still looking for a specific direction. The next step is clear – college. Interns also have their own rest outside of work and they recommended us their own tips for the evening:
- Martin: Casa de Papel
- Jakub Š.: The Walking Dead
- Jakub H.: Tour de France
- Pavel: Redbull Rampage

If they were the boss for a day
And what would they do if they took over for a day UX Fans management? Martin would build a swimming pool in the garden and introduce grills on the balcony, while Jakub Š. would not hesitate to build a company minigolf course.
When asked to describe UX Fans in one sentence, the following comparisons came up: "a great bunch of fans", "a company full of athletes" or "a relaxed company that does nice digital projects". And that is exactly the description that we like.
In conclusion
It was a ride - thanks, guys! 🚀
Whether you have a high school, new work challenges or a minigolf tournament ahead of you, we are keeping our fingers crossed and cheering you on.
